How to Use Digital Scrapbook Tutorials

by admin on October 12, 2009

It seems as if everyone is doing just about everything on the computer there days, from banking to shopping, paying bills, keeping in touch with friends, and yes, even scrapbooking. While many digital scrapbookers may be tempted to simply follow the instructions they find on digital scrapbook tutorials, it is also important to remember that like the directions that come with traditional scrapbook kits, these ideas are just guides and suggestions.  You might just be happy with discount scrapbooking supplies, but your scrapbook albums should be personal and unique just to you. Remember that an album is just like the photos inside – they should be something meaningful and personal to you!Yes, digital scrapbook tutorials make great guides, you shouldn't consider them hard and fast rules for digital scrapbooking.

When you purchase a program for composing scrapbooks on your computer, it's good to first review the digital scrapbook tutorials that go along with them.  This way you'll know the basics of how to manipulate the clipart, wording, and other embellishments that may be included. You can also learn how to place your photos, resize them, and crop them.Once you have a basic understanding from digital scrapbook tutorials, you can then move on to the more advanced techniques of designing and creating your scrapbook albums as well as digital scrapbooking and photoshop.Once again, their instructions and templates should only be considered a guide. You might try moving around some page elements or taking some away, or maybe add items you have found online or you already have on your computer.  Also journaling or quotes and sayings for scrapbooking are other items where you'll want to express your own personality.  Most digital scrapbook tutorials will tell you how to add wording and may come with a wide variety of fonts, or you can create wording in another program and upload it as you would any other element.

If you are just beginning digital scrapbooking, you may want to design one entire page with the directions from digital scrapbook tutorials so that you can see what the end product should look like, but if you're been doing this awhile and are confident with software programs, you may just want to set aside those instructions and design your own layouts.  When following their instructions too carefully, pages usually come out looking contrived and somewhat artificial.  And isn't half the fun of scrapbooking the ability to express your own creativity?  So use the instructions on digital scrapbook tutorials to learn how to manipulate elements but then step away from those instructions to create your own masterpiece.
